BRTA has started to train professional drivers on tobacco control issue

As part of mainstreaming of tobacco Control Law in transport sector, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has incorporated the tobacco control issue in the training content for professional drivers training and started to train professional drivers on harmful use of tobacco and tobacco control law.  On 25.04.2017 Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), Dhaka District Circle has organized a training workshop for professional drivers at it,s Keraniganj , Dhaka Office.   More than 300 professional drivers were participated in the training workshop. Md. Mukhlesur Rahman, Assistant Director and Project Coordinator, Tobacco Control program of DAM conducted a session on harmful effect of tobacco use; tobacco control law related to public transport and responsibilities of Drivers for ensuring smoke free transport.  Among other Director, Training of BRTA Mr. Sirajul Islam was present in the training workshop.It may be mentioned here that DAM is facilitating BRTA for mainstreaming and sustainable implementation of Tobacco Control Law in road transport sector. DAM organized a workshop with BRTA on 02.02.2017 at it’s Head Office, Dhaka. As per one decision of that workshop BRTA has incorporated the tobacco control issue in the training content.
