Workshop with Bangladesh Police on Enforcement Guideline of Tobacco Control Law Held


Workshop with Bangladesh Police.

A workshop was organized on 26 November 2017 by Bangladesh Police with the support of Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) & Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids (CTFK) at the conference room of Detective Training School, CID. A total of 65 Officers from 15 Department of Bangladesh Police were participated in the workshop. Dr. Kh. Mohid Uddin, BPM, Additional DIG (Training & Sports), Bangladesh Police was the Chief Guest of the program. Mrs. Akther Hosne Ara, ASP (Training) Detective Training School, CID was chaired the program. At the beginning of the program Md. Mukhlesur Rahman, Assistant Director & Project Coordinator (Tobacco Control Program) of DAM gave welcome speech and shared the objectives of the workshop. After welcome speech DAM presented a video on harmful effects of passive tobacco use. Mr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Additional Secretary of Cabinet Division presented the presentation on “Enforcement Guideline of Tobacco Control Law and its implementation.” Mr. Mostofa Monzoor Mahmood, ASP (Training) Detective Training School, CID presented the presentation on“How to lodge case by police, its challenges and way forward“. After the presentation a lively open discussion was held. They expressed their strong commitment to implement the Tobacco control activities and lodge case as mentioned in the Tobacco Control law. They will also discuss the tobacco control law and tobacco issue in their training. Chair of the meeting Mrs. Akther Hosne Ara, ASP (Training) Detective Training School, CID, appreciated the open discussion. She said this workshop is very important for all the participants of Bangladesh Police. Finally the chair thanked to all participants for joining the workshop and providing their opinion, comments and suggestions. He also thanked Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) and Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids (CTFK) for their assistance to organize the workshop. DAM Tobacco Control Program, Campaign Officer, Umme Jannat moderated the whole program.
