Training workshop organized for relevant stakeholders on enforcement guideline
On 20th March 2017, National Tobacco Control Cell, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has organized a training workshop with relevant stakeholders on enforcement guideline of Tobacco Control Law with the support of Dhaka Ahsania Mission & CTFK at conference room of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA).
The Focal Persons of Bangladesh Road Transport & High Way Division, Ministry of Railway, Secondary and Higher Education Division, Local Govt. Division, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth & Sports, Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Cooperative Division, Ministry of Information, Finance Division of Ministry of Finance , Security Services Division and Public Security Division of Ministry of Home Affairs and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority were attended the meeting and provided valuable opinion in the open discussion part. The authorized officers under MOHA; like-Officers from Bangladesh Police Head Quarter, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Department of Narcotics Control and Fire Services & Civil Defense, Civil Surgeon Office, National Tobacco Control Cell and Bangladesh Railway were also attend the workshop. The other NGO representatives were also attended the workshop. On the other hand, Mr. Shafiqul Islam, Country Advisor of Vital Strategies, Mr. Mohammad Ruhul Quddus, Coordinator of National Tobacco Control Cell (NTCC), Mr. Sharf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer of Savar Municipality and Dr. Mahfuz Bhuiyan, Grants Manager of CTFK were attended the program as panel speakers and gave a brief speech on how the authorized officers play active role to implement the Tobacco Control Law in their working area. Mr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Additional Secretary of Cabinet Division introduced with enforcement guideline of Tobacco Control Law 2005 through a power point presentation and described the roles and responsibilities of authorized officers. The whole program was moderated by Iqbal Masud, Head, Health Sector of DAM.
