Training on “Basic Counseling Skills for Addiction Professionals”

Lack of proper skill is a great obstaclefor providing quality treatment for the drug dependence. To improve this skill Dhaka Ahsania Mission has started training programs for doctors, counselors, managers and other professionals related to drug addiction treatment and rehabilitation. International Center for Credentialing and Education of Addiction Professionals (ICCE) of Colombo Plan has recognized Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) as ICCE approved education provider for enhancing the capacity of professionals in drug treatment. Under the training program fifth curriculum was held on 10 May 2017 named Curriculum-4: Basic Counseling Skills for Addiction Professionals. The curriculum provides an overview of the helping relationship and the opportunity to practice core counseling including basic skills in motivational interviewing, group counseling and implementation of psycho-education sessions. Dhaka Ahsania Mission Health Sector Head and Global Master Trainer of Colombo Plan Mr. Iqbal Masud has been handed over the certificate to the participants in closing ceremony. Dhaka Ahsania Mission has been providing medical treatment to the drug addicts in Bangladesh for a long time and that training program will be continue.
