Government Laboratory High Schoo’s students express their commitment to keep the society Tobacco and Drug free
Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) and Government Laboratory High School, Dhaka, jointly organized an awareness program on tobacco control and anti-drug today (19.09.2017). A total of 270 students of class IX & X and teachers were present in the event. Head Master of Government Laboratory High School Mr. Md. Abdul Khaleque was present as Chief Guest. Assistant Head Mistress of the same school Dewan Tahera Akther and Mr. Md. Altab Hossain Coordinator, College Branch of the same institutes were present as special guest. Md. Mukhlesur Rahman, Assistant Director and Project Coordinator of DAM Tobacco control program delivered welcome speech. In the open discussion the participants opined that they have learned a lot about harms of tobacco use, harms of direct & indirect smoking, including different sections of tobacco control law like- definition of public places, ban of sale to and by minors, fine and punishment for violation of TC law, harmful effects of drug abuse and ways to keep them and their family members tobacco and drug free. They also expressed their strong commitment that they will disseminate these learning’s with their family members as well as friends and will create awareness for keeping the society tobacco and drug free. In his speech the Chief Guest thanks to DAM for taking timely initiative and urged the students to be more aware on tobacco control and anti-drug issues and work for creating tobacco and drug free society. At the end of the program, Assistant Director and Project Coordinator of DAM Tobacco control program Md. Mukhlesur Rahman handed over the No Smoking Sinage to the Head Master Government Laboratory High School. The event was organized with the assistance of Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids (CTFK) and Lions Club of Dhaka Oasis.
