Formation of human chain demanding tobacco tax increase

On June 17, 2019 at 10.30 am, a human chain was formed demanding increase of supplementary duty & government revenue, impose specific tax on tobacco products and ensure public health in proposed budget of fiscal year 2019-20 in front of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) at Segun Bagicha, Dhaka. DAM took the initiatives as lead organization and other anti-tobacco organizations including National Heart Foundation, ACD, YPSA, TABINAJ, SUPRO, BITA, PROGGA, Aid Foundation Bureau of Economic Research, WBB Trust, NATAB, PROTASHA, TCRC, Grambangla Unnayan Committee and BCCP jointly organized the Human chain program. Anti-tobacco organizations and youth leaders urged Government to consider their demand in the final budget.
