Ministry of Home Affairs will play active role for implementing the Tobacco Control Law

“Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) will play active role for implementing Tobacco Control Law” said honorable Home Minister Mr. Asaduzzaman Khan. MP, as Chief Guest in the training of authorized officers under Ministry of Home Affairs on implementation of
Tobacco Control Law.
The training was organized by Ministry of Home Affairs on 05th March 2017 in the conference room of MOHA with the support of Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) & Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids (CTFK). The program was chaired by Mr. Farid Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, honorable Secretary, and Security Services Division of MOHA. He said that instruction letters will be circulated to the relevant departments for implementing the Law.

The Additional Secretaries (Admin; Law & Discipline) of Security Services Division and Public Security Division, Joint Secretary of Public Security Division and Deputy Secretaries (Admin and Narcotics) of Security Services Division and Public Security Division were attended the program and provided valuable opinion. The authorized officers under MOHA; like-Officers from Bangladesh Police Head Quarter, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Department of Narcotics Control and Fire Services & Civil Defense were present in the training . On the other hand, Mr. Mohammad Ruhul Quddus, Coordinator of National Tobacco Control Cell (NTCC) and Mr. Sharf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer of Savar Municipality, Mr. Syed Mahbubul Alam, Technical Advisor of the Union and Dr. Mahfuz Bhuiyan, Grants Manager of CTFK were attended the program as panel speakers and gave a brief speech on how the authorized officers under Ministry of Home Affairs play active role to implement the Tobacco Control Law in their working area. Mr. Iqbal Masud, Head, Health Sector of DAM was present the key note paper with power point presentation on the health hazard of tobacco use, Tobacco Control Law, the roles and responsibilities of authorized officers and the role of MOHA.
